Is affiliate marketing a scam? Is everything I read online just people trying to steal my money?
I have always been curious. There's always the overnight success stories. It seems too good to be true.
But … there has to be some truth to it … someone has done it. So, I've always been just like thousands, probably millions, of other people. I have always looked, curiously, but never willing to throw my money away.
My husband always worked long hours. We wanted to make it work with a stay-at-home parent. Then when one of the kids got sick, or school vacation came, we did not have to worry about juggling schedules so someone could be home with the kids. Most of the time it has worked out fine, only once in a while while it would have been nice to have a little extra money.
I have been doing surveys online for a few years now. I've never really made much money doing it, jackpots twice, and small checks and gift cards here and there. We've gotten to try some new products, some were pretty good, and some were pretty bad. I enjoy the political surveys the most, and the kids like to try the new junk food the most. Those seem to be the biggest benefits.
So every once in awhile I would come across the latest way to make money from home, instant wealth. My husband would laugh and say go ahead and try. The first step is to look at the website. It always looks similar to the last site. The next step is to blog the site. Just type in "blog 123xyz millions" into the search engine. Then, every time, the real information would begin. I would know not to waste my money.
Fast forward to 2008. This has been a tough year for us. Lady Luck seems to have a grudge against us. So now it's not just me, but both of us looking to the future, wondering if there's something we can do to create a new prospect for our family. This time it was my husband sitting at the computer running searches for work at home jobs, maybe this time we would come across something real.
For the first time ever, he actually found one that did not come up as a scam in the blogs! We found one that actually had a positive response! So I suggested he type in "forum" instead of "blog". That should be enough to get the dirt. Yet still, it came up with fair reviews! Wow!
We still debated it for a few days. Finally we decided that the guarantee was long enough that we really could not lose, and we bought it!
We've been very happy that we did. After looking through the program, I realized how much information is there. It's not a get rich quick scheme. It's a real training course. We've only been working at it for a couple of weeks, but we're making progress learning what we need to know about affiliate marketing, and ultimately, the knowledge to market our own products.
I can not say it's better than all the rest. I never tried any other program. But I can say I believe it's possible to learn how to make a reasonable amount of money working from home, part time.
